WeiTech is infamous for their mid-high quality GBBs. While their earlier products have been so-so at best, their new stuff is definitely promising. Now, we have the M4 GBB. WeiTech joins Western Arms, Inokatsu, and Classic Army in the GBB rifle universe. Hopefully - we’ll see a high quality product with a consumer-friendly sticker price.
Here’s the video. I warn you, I needed to change my undies after watching it.
Simon sent in some interesting news yesterday regarding a new product from SOCOM Gear. Their new LiPo batteries are developed specifically for AEGs and Airsoft usage, and are not re-branded R/C batteries.
These batteries are touted as “HIGH PERFORMANCE AND LESS HAZARDOUS”, and are available in 11.1V and 7.4V configurations, with mAH ranging from 1000mAH to 1500mAH. Although they are claimed to be less hazardous, they still ask retailers to have customers sign a waiver included in every box.
Is there a difference between these and say, Firefox LiPo batteries? We’re looking to get some in and give them a try, so we’ll see for ourselves.
Well, as excited as I was to hear about the upcoming release of Classic Army’s HK416 remake, the CA416, I was again disappointed by a lack of trademarks on the gun. I know, I know - if I want a pretty HK416, I can always get a VFC. But for once, I’d like my workhorse AEG to look as good as it performs. VFC guns are great, but are pricey here in Canada, and there is no way I would use one as my primary AEG. It’s a show piece.
Myself (like many other CA product owners I’m sure) am beginning to wonder if CA is even making an effort to get their product traded. If a company like JG can put an HK logo on the side of an AEG, CA has GOT to be able to. If CA has no intention of trading their products, then I’d love to see the price drop to reflect it.
One of our readers may know more about the legalities surrounding H&K licensing, so feel free to chime in.
I for one, am rather disappointed. I’ve always been impressed with the rigidity and feel of any CA product I’ve owned, and it would be wonderful if they could start backing up their products with trades (and a factory-upgraded mechbox, but that’s another story).
Here are the pics:
As for where to buy, you lucky Americans will be able to purchase this from Spartan Imports (hopefully shortly), us Canadians are at the mercy of the first retailer able to shove a load of these up their arse from whatever source available to you.
UPDATE: Here is a YouTube vid of this gun in action. Thanks to spartan117 on ASC for the video URL.
Note the functional bolt release and charging handle. A first for Classic Army, if memory serves.
Probably the most fun I’ve had with a “dollmaker” web script ever. I won’t get into my previous engagements with it, but this “Pimp My Airsoft!” site deserves good mention.
Above is a sample (albeit a tame one) of something you can create with it. I re-created my JG HK416 Custom job as a pixel-art GIF.
Using it is incredibly easy - just make sure you let the entire page load before you use it.
To use it (taken directly from the page itself):
Wait for the page to load fully (1 mn or more) until to see “amusez vous bien” box (”enjoy” in French)
At the top of the page is a square with a “PIMP MY AIRSOFT” title. That’s your work area.
At the middle of the page is a selection of guns. Click on a family.
Parts will appear at the bottom of the page.
Double click the part to put it in your work area. You can also drag it to your work area or around it (but the parts (out) won’t appear on the final picture.
To delete a part, right click the part and click ‘EFFACEZ’
To put a part forward an other , right click the part and click “mettre devant”
When satisfied with your creation, click the “CONSTRUIRE” box.
A DollMaker page will load, with a small error. Click OK…then your creation is display! Click the diskette icon or right click to save to your HD
If your connection is rather slow (I was using it on a low-signal WiFi connection at the time), you may need to reload the page to see all the images of the various components you can attach to your gun. I also found that double-clicking the part was easier than trying to click+drag the part to the work area.
Needless to say, you can have a LOT of fun with this.
Kudos to it’s creator, nougou51, on the Airsoft Canada Forums.
News from Mad Bull this morning. See below for the information from Simon @ Mad Bull.
Features:
Rechargeable (2xAAA rechargeable batteries not included)
USB Power adapter (You can charge it by your computer or you can buy regular USB home or car charger.)
Extreme power save function
What would be really cool about this USB Chrono, would be the ability to record results to the Windows Clipboard when connected via USB. Event Organizers can keep a spreadsheet of the attendees’ chrono results during signup.
Would be a cool feature indeed. Keep on dreamin’ people.
No, you don’t need to take your computer with you to charge this thing - a cigarette lighter adapter for USB devices will work very conveniently - it’s still fun to think about.
Here are the actual features of the product, as listed by Mad Bull (I’m a fan of the tripod adapter on the bottom):
