MOUT “FNG” DAY – April 26, 2009 – Review

“Loads of fun.” was the term heard most at the event (OK, that and “HIT!”). And rightfully so.

From the mini-OPs, the laser shooting range, and the “live target shoot” – the event was a grade-A success on all accounts.

I tried to participate in as many things as I could to get a good feel of the day, and I wasn’t let-down anywhere I went. The food was cheap – and damn tasty. The game Admins were fair – and everywhere they needed to be (especially with a large number of new players running around).

Even the weather cooperated – for the most part. Overcast, cool, and mainly dry conditions made for a great game day.

Out of all the activities, I was hooked on the mini-OPs. For the most part they were very well organized – with Admins at every major engagement point. However, if it wasn’t for the excellent layout of the battlefield I probably never would have figured out who was/was not on my team. It usually pretty difficult to divide teams when so many people come wearing custom camo, street clothes, and even the wide array of adopted patterns.

A small point of contention with the mini-OPsI had was; No clear rules, or immediate objective posted.  It may have been communicated to the group before I got there, so this may not be a problem, but joining the OPs mid-game meant I was dependent on my teammates (and I wasn’t really sure who they all were) for the information.

So, to summarize, I give the day a 9/10. One point off for the (minor) challenges of posting clear rules/objectives for the mini-OPs.  Otherwise, it was a basty-blast.

Hats off to Team Wolfpack, and Team C.A.M. for a great event.  Great work guys.

Look for pics of the day to be posted shortly.
