WETTI M4/M16 AWSS – What “version” do I have?

Hey everyone,

AngryRP from the GasGuns.info Community posted a link to a WE M4 Wiki page that answers a question I get asked weekly. Sad to say, the answer wasn’t clear to me either, until now.

Now, keep in mind, this is an open-source Wiki, and the information you read on the Internet isn’t always true – but the page makes a lot of sense, and corroborates many things I’ve learned along the way.

Without further delay, CLICK HERE to read the article – it’s a great read.

Cheers,

6mm Customs Shop: WETTI AWSS Trigger Group

Hey all,

I know things have been quiet lately – and for that I apologize.  But there’s some BIG news coming from us, and I’m excited, and disappointed all at the same time.

Here’s the scoop:

I’ve been testing the SCAR AWSS steel trigger for some time.  I’ve been trying to get it up to 20,000 rounds in a stock WE trigger group to see the effects it will have, and iron out any long-term issues before it’s ready for shipping.  Some people have criticized me for this – but I think it’s essential to ensure YOU are receiving a quality product.  I refuse to release something people are going to lament or that can cause greater problems in the long run.

To make a long story short – the steel trigger destroyed the stock WE hammer MUCH faster than I anticipated.  Yes, I realize that SAE 302 stainless steel is MUCH stronger than the white metal WE uses for the Hammer and disconnector, but I didn’t even make it to 8,000 out of my mandatory 20,000 rounds.

With that said, the trigger was functioning properly and perfectly, up until it wore the hammer to a nub.  So I’ve decided to ramp up development of the entire trigger group.  This includes three components:

  • The trigger (part #57)
  • The hammer (part #50)
  • The disconnector (part #54)

All three of these parts are in regular contact throughout the action of the system, and unless all three are replaced, replacing any one of them with a steel component will greatly increase the wear on any of the OEM white metal parts.  This is why I am delaying the release of the SCAR AWSS trigger, until all three are ready for production.

As a token of my appreciation, all those who have preordered a SCAR AWSS trigger will also receive the hammer, and disconnector FREE OF CHARGE.

This full trigger group will be available for the SCAR AWSS very shortly, followed by the M4/M16/4168 platform immediately after.  I’ve had requests to make these three parts available separately, and I definitely plan on it, however initially I’ll be selling the three as a set.

It should also be noted that I will not be testing my trigger group with other aftermarket parts such as the TSC trigger, hammer, disconnector, etc…  So pelase be aware that they may (or may not) work with those other products.

As soon as I have an ETA for delivery, I’ll post up a pre-order for the SCAR AWSS trigger group, and immediately following, the M4/M16/4168 trigger group.

Cheers!

6mm Customs Shop: Valve Strikers have started shipping

Hi everyone,

I’m elated to announce that the first batch of Valve-Strikers have been shipped to a lucky number of pre-order participants this morning!

Those individuals that have ordered triggers with their valve strikers are encouraged to email me at sales@6mm-mag.com if you would prefer to have your strikers shipped out before your triggers, or if you prefer to wait for the whole order. I’ll try and get to the post tomorrow for the remainder – the problem is that Holiday lineups and rushes to the Post Office are making it rather difficult to get these out.

Also, for those whose orders have been shipped, please allow for a little extra time than the typical shipping period due to the Holiday rush.

I should also note, that I will be taking down the Pre-order Valve-Striker product page sometime this week. At which time you will lose access to the pre-order pricing for the item, and the price will go back up to $15 USD from the currently discounted price of $12 USD. So if you want the discount – order soon.
Cheers!

6mm Customs: WETTI M4/SCAR AWSS Steel Valve-Strikers almost ready for shipping.

Hey everyone.

I’m pleased to announce the laser cut steel valve strikers are nearly ready to begin shipping. It is my goal to get these in the hands of all those who have pre-ordered before Christmas.

Looks like things are happening ahead of schedule.

Next up… steel triggers dammit! LOL

6mm Custom Shop: New Laser-cut Steel Valve-Strikers Available shortly

Hey everyone,

I have a few updates.  The laser-cut steel valve strikers for the WETTI AWSS (SCAR and M4)platform are nearly ready.  I have been testing a few samples with some outstanding results – including longevity and wear tests.

So far there have no premature signs of wear throughout the release-valve assembly, or the valve itself on the mag.  The firing pin also looks great still, and I haven’t been able to find any issues.

So, I’m going to production very shortly.  Due to the simple engineering of the striker, they should hopefully be done fast, and cheap.  Initial impressions are looking around the $15 USD mark to replace your current pot metal striker with a steel one that should last as long as you do.

I’m working on a pre-order for them now that the project is definitely a success, so if you would like to set one (or some) aside for immediate shipment as they arrive, head on over to http://shop.6mm-mag.com/ and order them now.

The run will be limited like the triggers, and if these sell out, I’ll see about doing another run.

Here’s the initial cut, plus two prototypes:

If you’re wondering about time-lines for arrival and shipping, I expect to ship before Dec 18th.

Cheers.

SCAR AWSS CNC Trigger Update & Special Pre-order Pricing

Stock trigger (left) and CNC-trigger (right)

Stock trigger (left) and CNC-trigger (right)

Hey everyone,

In order for me to move on to the next projects, I need to clear these triggers out as soon as they’re in my hands. To do this, I’m going to drop the trigger price from $60 to $50 until the end of the month.

This special pricing will be for pre-ordered triggers only, once I have the triggers in-hand and packaged, the price will go back up to $60.

I’ve seen some other CNC’d triggers for the AWSS system out there, and two immediate thoughts come to mind:

  1. They’re not machined to match the stock AWSS trigger.
Not kidding.  It’s no wonder people have reported problems with these aftermarket triggers.
  2. They feel terrible.
They’re sharp, rigid, and will cause premature wear on any glove you use them with.
  3. They aren’t made specifically for your SCAR AWSS.
They’re too short for the SCAR.  M4 triggers are unique to the WETTI M4 AWSS.  Despite what EVIKE and other retailers say.

I was surprised to see this advertised on the EVIKE website, and the number of questions you’ve all sent me inspired me to take pic (see below).  Please excuse the broken SCAR trigger on the right – it’s the trigger that started this whole thing.  :D
